Albania received the last batch of Russian wheat after the imposition of sanctions

Against the backdrop of wide-ranging sanctions against Russia, the last batch of Russian wheat has arrived in Albania. This is reported by the publication Euractiv. The ship, which arrived in Durres the day before, delivered 3,030 tons of grain to the country, which is equal to 1% of imports from the figures in 2021.

According to local media, Albania may soon face a reduction in bakery products on the shelves due to a significant increase in flour prices.

Local wholesalers also expect a significant increase in flour prices, as imports from other countries will cost much more. Earlier it was reported that Serbia had already blocked wheat exports to other countries, making it harder for Albania and other countries to find affordable alternatives.

The European Union previously banned the sale, supply, and export of euro banknotes to Russia, exceptions have been established for a number of citizens. According to the organization, the restrictions are being introduced as part of a new sanctions package against the Russian Federation.
