Kazakh Energy Ministry investigates disruptions in oil exports amid anti-Russian sanctions

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) of Kazakhstan is experiencing difficulties in transporting oil against the backdrop of recent anti-Russian sanctions. It is reported by Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to local media, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan is looking into the details. Anonymous sources also told Reuters that "the flow of Kazakhstani oil is bogged down by problems with Russian exports."

Traders are reportedly avoiding buying oil, which is supposedly mixed with Russian oil and loaded from a Russian port. According to various sources, CPC exports oil from the Russian port of Novorossiysk and mixes it with Russian varieties, which deters most buyers and also makes it difficult to insure ships.

The day before, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that sanctions against Moscow could be eased in the event of a de-escalation in Ukraine. According to him, sanctions against Russia are not an end in themselves, while at the same time, the United States does not yet see signs that Russia is ready to move towards de-escalation of the conflict.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation to protect the Donbass in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

On the same day, US President Joe Biden announced the introduction of new sanctions and export restrictions against Russia against the backdrop of a special operation.
