“I visited shelters for refugees organized at the Institute of Pedagogical Sciences and the Athletics Arena in the capital. We talked to young and old women who, together with their children and grandchildren, came to us, fleeing the war. I assured them that we will continue to be with them and other refugees who will cross our border to save their lives. People are very grateful to our citizens for their understanding and kindness.

I also talked to volunteers who help refugees and without whom this work would not be possible. I sincerely thank all our citizens who show solidarity and generosity in these difficult and uncertain days. No one should ever be in the place of these people who suffered from the misfortunes of war. I urge you to remain united, calm and vigilant,” Maia Sandu said in a message.

Recall that last Sunday, February 27, the head of state visited the border between Moldova and Ukraine, where refugee sorting centers have been installed. There, Maia Sandu spoke with both refugees and border guards, employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, carabinieri and the police.
