German university apologizes to Muslim women for hijab incident

Muslim students from a university in the German city of Munich received an official apology from the university administration for insulting religious feelings during the exam.

The Munich University of Applied Sciences said on Twitter that it "sincerely apologizes" to female students who were told to remove their headscarves during an online exam under the pretext of preventing cheating.

"Religious headwear cannot be compared to ordinary fashion accessories and should be treated differently," the university said in a statement, quoted by bbabo.net, citing the Daily Sabah.

One of the affected students wrote on Instagram that the university reacted to the incident with a long delay, and that she intends to ensure that similar situations do not occur in the future.
