The largest clothing retailer shamed Western colleagues for leaving Russia

The Japanese company Fast Retailing Co., which owns the Uniqlo brand, has refused to follow the example of Western colleagues who are massively curtailing business in Russia amid the Ukrainian crisis and anti-Russian sanctions being imposed.

The company's CEO, Tadashi Yanai, stressed that clothing is a vital necessity, and the Russian people "have the same right to life" as any other people, reports Bloomberg.

He added that he is skeptical of the trend in which politicians are forcing companies to make a choice of the current geopolitical situation, making a decision to curtail activities.

In recent days, dozens of Western companies have announced the suspension of activities in Russia, including IKEA, Fazer, HM, Mango. The French President urged French firms not to make hasty decisions.
