Putin addressed the current and elected presidents of Turkmenistan

Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - A few hours after the announcement of the results of the presidential elections in Turkmenistan, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the current and elected presidents of this country, Gurbanguly and Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

As reported, Berdymukhammedov Jr. enlisted the support of 72.97% of the vote with a nearly 100% turnout.

As the Turkmen news agency TDH reports, the leaders of the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation in the development of relations between Moscow and Ashgabat.

The Russian President highly appreciated the contribution of his colleague to the strengthening of bilateral relations and expressed gratitude for the effective joint work.

After that, Berdymukhammedov Sr. handed over the handset to his 40-year-old son Serdar. Putin warmly congratulated the newly elected head of the Turkmen state on his victory in the elections and wished him success in the highest state post.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked the President of the Russian Federation for the congratulations and warm wishes and announced his intention to follow the course of his father, who made progressive development with Moscow one of the priorities of the country's foreign policy.
