The new agreement will double the tourist flow to Tatarstan

Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and General Director of the Corporation "Tourism.rf" Sergey Sukhanov signed an agreement on the joint development of tourism infrastructure in the republic. According to it, it is planned to build 3-4-star hotels and other facilities, which will double the flow of tourists to Tatarstan, IA Tatar-inform reports.

“This is a very important agreement. Tatarstan is now a fairly developed tourist destination. But we understand the huge potential of this republic. And we are grateful to Rustam Nurgalievich, who pays great attention to the development of the industry. Tatarstan works as a catalyst for the tourist effect for the entire Volga Federal District. Now the tourist flow to the republic is almost 3.5 million people. It is planned that it will be doubled as a result of the creation of infrastructure,” said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, who was present at the ceremony.

He recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to accelerate the development of tourism infrastructure in the regions of the country. To do this, the government has taken unprecedented measures to support the industry, including a zero VAT rate.

Within the framework of the agreement, it is planned to develop five tourist clusters in Tatarstan: Volga Bulgaria, Sokolka, Sviyaga, Kamskoe Ustye and Laishevo. At the same time, the first of them will contribute to the development of tourism not only in Tatarstan, but also in six regions of the Volga Federal District.

“The Republic of Tatarstan has always been attractive for tourists. Last year, 3.3 million people came to us. We have almost reached pre-pandemic levels. In 2019, 3.6 million people visited the republic. There are three UNESCO World Heritage Sites on the territory of the republic: the Kazan Kremlin, the Great Bolgar, the island-city of Sviyazhsk. In addition, we are developing rural tourism, we have a lot of natural landscapes,” the President of Tatarstan noted.

In conclusion, Chernyshenko emphasized that now, in the context of sanctions and restrictions, special attention should be paid to the development of domestic tourism, and called on the regions to join the work within the framework of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality Industry".
