The United States expressed concern over the visit of the head of Syria to the UAE

The United States expressed dissatisfaction with the visit of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This was stated by Pentagon spokesman Ned Price, reports Reuters.

On March 18, Assad arrived in the UAE and met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who, in turn, indicated that Syria is considered "a pillar of Arab security, so the UAE's position is firm in supporting the country's territorial integrity and stability," SANA reported.

The UAE leader reaffirmed the need to withdraw all foreign forces from Syrian territory that are there illegally.

This is Assad's first visit outside of Syria outside of Russia and Iran since the start of the civil war in 2011. In November last year, the Syrian president received UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Damascus for the first time in 10 years.
