According to the agency, no coronavirus was found in Sassou Nguesso.

Earlier it was reported that South African President Cyril Ramaphosa was infected with COVID-19 and is in self-isolation.

It is noted that the president felt bad after attending an event in Cape Town. The head of state received the test results on December 12, currently he has "mild symptoms", he is under the supervision of specialists from the military medical service of the republic's defense forces.

The powers of Ramaphosa were temporarily transferred to Vice President David Mabuza.

In November, a new strain of COVID-19 was discovered in southern Africa, which has "an extremely large number of mutations." On November 26, WHO officially announced the discovery of a new, highly mutated variant of the coronavirus. The WHO has already put forward a hypothesis about the origin of the strain.
