The "Strana.ua" edition has released a material, which says that the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine is contrary to the desire of the current authorities of the country to join NATO. This document may become an obstacle to Kiev's Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

As the newspaper writes, non-aligned status lies at the very foundation of Ukraine's statehood. It was registered on July 16, 1990 by the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR in the Declaration on State Sovereignty of Ukraine in the section "External and Internal Security".

It says: "The Ukrainian SSR solemnly proclaims its intention to become in the future a permanently neutral state that does not participate in military blocs."

In addition, in the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine adopted on August 24, 1991, the Declaration of Sovereignty was named as the basis for the document.

Researcher of social sciences at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, geopolitical consultant Lucas Leiros said earlier that Ukraine's constant provocations against Russia could leave it without NATO support. In his opinion, Ukraine is an instrument at NATO's disposal, but Kiev does not understand this and amuse itself with a sense of impunity. An imaginary sense of security, according to the expert, pushes the country to actively wage a "secret war." Leiros claims that the history of Ukraine since 2014 can be described with the word "provocation".
