However, soon the firefight resumed and lasted about 30 minutes, and the Tajik military also began mortar shelling of the Kyrgyz village of Dostuk. According to preliminary data from the Kyrgyz side, during the skirmish, one border guard was injured on both sides.

The border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan periodically becomes a zone of conflict, including between local residents and border guards of the two countries. The reason for this is non-delimited areas where it is impossible to determine how the border between states runs.

The last major gun incident occurred at the end of January. The clashes between the border guards, which began due to the blocking of the Kyrgyz road by the Tajiks, lasted for several hours. A truce was reached only after negotiations between the representatives of the two countries. More than 30 people from both sides were injured during the conflict.
