Preservation of age-old values and faith. Putin outlined his view of Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the Valdai Forum in Sochi, formulated the ideological foundations of Russia for the foreseeable future. He sees the main component of the state ideology as “moderate conservatism”, which corresponds to the medical principle “do no harm” and does not impede social development.

"Let's face it, for the upcoming period of world reconstruction, which may last for quite a long time and the final design of which is unknown, moderate conservatism is the most reasonable, at least in my opinion, line of behavior. It will inevitably change, but so far the medical principle" do no harm "seems to be the most rational," Putin said.

The President explained what kind of conservatism he means by using definitions such as "moderate", "reasonable" and "healthy." Also, the head of state appealed to the philosopher Nikolai Berdyaev, who combined in his doctrine many ideas - from the similarity of all religions and criticism of “patristic Christianity” to the personalism and exclusivity of each individual.

“When I talk about healthy conservatism, I always remember Nikolai Berdyaev, whom I have also mentioned more than once. He is our outstanding philosopher. He, as you know, was expelled from the Soviet Union in 1922, but he is a man with all his being directed to the future. He was also a supporter of conservatism. At the same time, he said, maybe I will not reproduce this quote exactly, but nevertheless: conservatism is not something that prevents going up and forward, but something that prevents going back and down to chaos. Now, if we perceive conservatism in this way, it will be a good help for development, "the Russian president emphasized.

Conservatism should manifest itself both in the international sphere and in the domestic Russian sphere. In the first case, it is reliance on national states, which no supranational global structures are able to replace, if only because "only sovereign states are able to effectively respond to the challenges of the time and the demands of citizens." The interaction of states and consideration of their national interests should be regulated within the framework of international law. “It is the UN in the current turbulent world that is the bearer of that very healthy conservatism of international relations, which is so necessary for the normalization of the situation,” Putin said.

Within the state, the basis of the way of life should be the values of its multinational people, its civilization. No value-based, ideological diktat is acceptable. Russia does not like much of what is happening in the West - "aggressive blotting out entire pages of its own history," reverse discrimination "of the majority in the interests of minorities, or the demand to abandon the usual understanding of such basic things as mom, dad, family, or even gender difference" - but we are not we interfere in other people's affairs.

"We only ask you not to enter our house especially, we have a different point of view: we believe that we must rely on our spiritual values, on the historical tradition, on the culture of our multinational people."

The President declared the inadmissibility of "the destruction of age-old values, faith, relations between people, up to the complete rejection of the family."

It is noteworthy that in the president's keynote speech there was no mention of the so-called secular nature of the state, with which unscrupulous officials often cover up the fight against manifestations of religiosity and rejection of the values of traditional confessions in Russia.
