Women appoint vice presidents of Saudi Arabia's two holy mosques

For the first time in the history of the Sacred Mosque in Mecca and the Mosque of the Prophet in Medina, women were appointed as their deputy chairmen, reports bbabo.net citing ArabNews.

Sheikh Abdurrahman al-Sudais, head of the two holy mosques, announced new appointments that showed Saudi Arabia's commitment to raising the status of women in society and the professional environment.

Dr. Noura al-Tuaibi became Vice-Chairman of the Sacred Mosque of Mecca for Women, Dr. Kamelia Al-Daadi was appointed Vice-Chairman for Libraries and Cultural Affairs, and Dr. Maram bint Abdulkarim became Vice-Chairman for Vision Plan Initiatives and Implementation al-Maatani.

It is worth noting that in recent years, the number of women in the staff of the Department of Sacred Mosques has increased significantly and approached 600.
