Russia launches Iranian satellite into space

Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - Today at 8:52 Moscow time, the Iranian Khayyam satellite was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, TASS reports. It was launched into orbit by a Soyuz-2.1b rocket. The satellite for remote sensing of the Earth was specially made for Tehran. Together with him, 16 other spacecraft went into space.

Shortly before the launch, the American newspaper The Washington Post noted that Khayyam allows you to take pictures with a resolution of 1.2 meters and monitor the territory of Lebanon, Syria and Yemen, in which Iran has political forces under its control.

According to the publication's sources, the first few months after launch, the satellite will be used by Russia to monitor its military facilities.
