Brazilian government tightens entry rules

Russia (bbabo.net) - The Brazilian federal government has complied with the decision of the Federal Supreme Court and issued a ruling on December 20, which officially states the need to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 to enter the country both by air and by land.

Now everyone arriving in the South American state must provide a vaccination passport (the last dose of the vaccine must be applied at least 14 days before departure to Brazil), a traveler's health declaration completed at least 24 hours before departure, and a negative PCR test done at least 72 hours prior to arrival in the country. The document specifies that COVID-19 recovery certificates and QR codes will not be accepted in lieu of a vaccination passport.

Foreigners who have contraindications to vaccination for health reasons or because of age are exempt from the need to provide a vaccination passport. In this case, they will have to be in quarantine for at least five days, and then pass a PCR test for COVID-19.

Earlier, the government of President Jair Bolsonaro opposed the obligatory presentation of vaccination passports by everyone entering the country and criticized the corresponding initiative of the head of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court, Luis Roberto Barroso, which was later approved during an online court hearing on December 15.
