Turkey began to issue residence permits to Crimean Tatars on the basis of Turkic origin

Turkey has begun issuing long-term residence permits to Crimean Tatars based on "Turkic origins," which Uighurs, Meskhetian, Bulgarian and Greek Turks can also obtain, Sabah reported. This measure was the embodiment of the proposal of Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu, which he announced in June this year.

Long-term residence permits will not be issued to all Crimean Tatars. The applicant will have to meet certain conditions and provide the necessary documents to the local migration office after submitting the application on the website "e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr".

Currently, only 5 percent of foreigners in Turkey live in the country on the basis of a long-term residence permit, 75 percent of them received it on the basis of "Turkic origin".
