Bulgaria, which has expelled seventy Russian diplomats and blocked the accounts of the Russian embassy in Sofia, is ready to start negotiations on gas supplies and has notified Gazprom of its intentions.
The sensational news, with reference to the Minister of Energy of the Technical Government of Bulgaria, Rosen Hristov, was announced by the Nova TV channel.
“We showed [Gazprom] our desire to start, or rather continue negotiations on the controversial details of the agreement. We sent information to the partners that we were ready for negotiations, and requested the possibility of contacts. We are waiting for an answer in the near future,” said the head of the Bulgarian relevant ministry.
According to Hristov, Sofia is ready to propose a number of changes to the terms of the contract, which would optimize it taking into account the current situation. Among the proposals: extending the period for receiving the remaining volumes of gas - about 2.4 billion cubic meters. Such measures are needed so that the fuel arrives before the end of the heating season or next summer.
The head of the Ministry of Energy admitted that now Bulgaria continues to buy Russian gas, but through intermediaries and at a higher price.
But the Russian side would also like to introduce a few additional points to the existing document.
Somehow: the return of all the exiled diplomats of the Russian Federation at the expense of Bulgaria, the immediate unblocking of the accounts of the embassy, an official apology to our foreign ministry, sending convoys with humanitarian supplies to the DPR and LPR, payment for gas supplies in rubles, holding the international festival "Sofia and Moscow - forever together!”, a total rejection of anti-Russian rhetoric and the full resumption of air traffic.
Otherwise, there will be a refusal to resume supplies and a break in diplomatic relations, which Russian ambassador Eleonora Mitrofanova spoke about, but then for some reason she began to offer the “brothers” to buy gas at a good price, replacing justified indignation with commercial rhetoric.
