Caliber was launched in the Sea of Japan

Russia (bbabo.net) - On Tuesday, the newest diesel-electric submarine Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, located in the depths of the Sea of Japan, which became part of the Pacific Fleet less than a month ago, successfully hit the coastal target position with the Kalibr cruise missile. tactical field Surkum. At the same time, the firing range exceeded 1 thousand kilometers.

Strictly speaking, the naval "Caliber" is not one missile, but a whole family of high-precision ammunition designed for different purposes, with different power, principle of operation and method of placement. For example, the 3M14 ship missile (it was it that was used to destroy terrorists in Syria in October 2015 by the ships of the Caspian Flotilla), according to various sources, has a range of up to 2-2.6 thousand kilometers. Used on diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.3, to which Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky belongs, the 3M54 ammunition shoots, as it has now become known, for a thousand kilometers or more. Its submariners also tested it on terrorists operating in Syria and were convinced that NATO did not call this missile Sizzler for nothing - "incinerator".

The warhead of "Calibers" can be high-explosive and nuclear. Rockets are capable of flying at subsonic speeds and three times the speed of sound. At the same time, the accuracy of their hitting is equally high, which is at a distance of 300 kilometers, which is 2500 km. And also "Caliber" can overcome any anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense. The ammunition flies along a complex trajectory with a change in altitude from 150 to 50 meters. At the target, the rocket drops to 20 meters and strikes that cannot be parried or prevented.

The onboard control complex "Kalibra" is built on the basis of an autonomous inertial navigation system. Guidance of the missile in the final section of the trajectory is carried out using anti-jamming active radar homing heads. In addition, the control complex includes a radio altimeter.
