Tokayev announced a change in the economic course of Kazakhstan

Asia (bbabo.net), - Speaking with an annual message to the people of Kazakhstan, the President of the Republic, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, proclaimed a new economic course for the country.

According to Tokayev, the new course is associated with a move away from excessive state intervention in the economy.

“The priorities of the new economic course will be to stimulate private entrepreneurial initiative, that is, to move away from state capitalism and excessive state interference in the economy, to develop competition, that is, to ensure equal opportunities for everyone,” the head of Kazakhstan said.

At the same time, he noted that the basic goal of economic policy in the country will remain a qualitative and inclusive growth in the welfare of citizens.

“We are well aware of the problems that have accumulated in our economy. For example, we are still dependent on raw materials. Low labor productivity, insufficient innovation are all serious problems. But there are specific ways to solve them,” Tokayev added.

In addition, the Kazakh leader proposed introducing a luxury tax, which would be levied on the purchase of expensive real estate, vehicles and would not affect the middle class.
