Greater Middle East (bbabo.net), - Albania has decided to sever diplomatic relations with Iran. This was announced today, September 7, by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

"The Council of Ministers has taken a decision in favor of breaking off diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, [it] takes effect immediately," the prime minister said in a statement posted on the government's website.

It is noted that the Iranian embassy was sent an official notification that all diplomats and employees of the diplomatic mission must leave the country within 24 hours.

As the reason for this decision, the Albanian authorities called a cyber attack on government computer systems, for which Tirana blamed Tehran, TASS reports.
