Relations between Serbia and Turkey are enjoying a golden age - Vučić

Greater Middle East (bbabo.net), - The President of Turkey continues his visit to the Balkans. After Bosnia and Herzegovina, he visited Serbia.

Relations between Serbia and Turkey are enjoying a golden age, and economic cooperation between the two countries is also extremely good, Serbian Head of State Aleksandar Vucic said today, September 7, in Belgrade after meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

At a joint press conference between the two heads of state, Aleksandar Vučić said that both Belgrade and Ankara would like bilateral trade relations to reach five billion euros, which is a good chance, as trade flows already exceeded two billion last year.

He added that he and his Turkish counterpart discussed all important topics, including military operations in Ukraine and the energy crisis. According to the President of Serbia, the upcoming winter will be cold, but the next one will be downright “chilling”.

"No one seems to want a solution. I fear that everyone expects defeat from the other side, not compromise. But if they really believe that they can easily defeat Russia by military means, then all that remains for us is to prepare well for both the cold and the frosty winter,” he said.

Aleksandar Vučić asked the President of Turkey to help ensure Serbia's energy supply during the winter period by providing the opportunity to transport electricity from Azerbaijan through Bulgaria to Serbia.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Serbia and Turkey have agreed to mutually abolish passport obligations, and that citizens of Serbia and Turkey will be able to enter Serbia and Turkey with identity cards in the future. The already significant volume of tourism between the two countries is expected to continue to grow.

Regarding Kosovo, the Turkish President also said that Ankara is ready to help improve relations between Belgrade and Pristina, since the Balkans "can no longer put up with such problems."

At a press conference in Belgrade, the Turkish president also answered a journalist's question, saying that, in his opinion, the West's position is wrong, since a provocation cannot lead to a result. He noted that this is also a provocation when Western countries send weapons to Ukraine, however, forgetting about the supply of Bayraktar UAVs by his country to the Ukrainian military.

As bbabo.net reported, according to Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Europe has already made the mistake of underestimating Russia and not thinking that if it takes hostile steps against it, Moscow will strike back and turn off the gas.

The Turkish president added that if we analyze the situation in Ukraine, we can see that there is no winner in this war. “There is no winner in such a war, but I think there are quite a few losers, a large number of losers,” he explained, adding that in addition to the loss of life, there are also huge financial losses. And it doesn't look like this war will end anytime soon.

According to Erdogan, Turkey has always tried to maintain a balance in its relations with Russia and Ukraine.
