US imposes sanctions on Iran

The Greater Middle East (bbabo.net), - The US Treasury has imposed sanctions against Iranian companies and citizens who are allegedly involved in the supply of unmanned aerial vehicles to Russia. The department announced this on its official website on September 8.

The imposed sanctions restrictions involve the blocking of any property under the jurisdiction of the United States and associated with sanctioned persons. In addition, the agency warned that third parties that will enter into transactions with enterprises that fall under the sanctions may also face restrictions.

On August 29, The Washington Post published an article stating that Iran allegedly sent UAVs to Russia intended for use in a special operation to protect Donbass. According to the sources of the newspaper, in total, the Russian Federation is allegedly supposed to receive hundreds of Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles of various types, including Mohajer-6 and Shahed.

On August 30, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the American newspaper The Washington Post has been publishing a lot of stuff lately. Information about the supply of drones was not confirmed, including by the Iranian side.

On August 31, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called the topic of deliveries of drones from Iran artificially created by America. According to her, the discussion of the purchase of Iranian drones is not on the agenda of negotiations between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
