Blinken: US expects Tajikistan to expand security cooperation

Asia (bbabo.net), - The US looks forward to expanding security cooperation with Tajikistan and promoting fundamental freedoms. This is stated in a statement by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of Tajikistan's independence, released today, September 9, by the US Embassy in Dushanbe.

“We look forward to expanding our cooperation in the field of security and the promotion of fundamental freedoms, which are the foundation of a stable and prosperous society. I am sure that our regional relations in the C5 + 1 format (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the USA - Ed.) will only strengthen as we contribute to global efforts to combat climate change, we decide human rights issues and identify trade and investment opportunities,” Blinken said in a statement.

He noted that "The United States and Tajikistan have built a strong partnership based on common goals, countless cultural and people-to-people connections, and a commitment to combat terrorist threats not only in Tajikistan, but throughout the region, and around the world."

Despite the fact that both of our countries have faced challenges over the past year due to global changes, the United States remains committed to the stability and prosperity of Tajikistan," Blinken said in a statement.

As bbabo.net reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his congratulations to his Tajik colleague Emomali Rahmon on the national holiday - Independence Day of Tajikistan, stressed that relations between the two countries "are dynamically developing in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance", including within the CIS, CSTO, SCO and other multilateral structures.
