U.S. threatens sanctions for bypassing Russian oil price ceiling

USA (bbabo.net), - The Russian oil price ceiling regime will impose liability on market players who try to hide the origin or true price of purchased oil.

This is stated in a statement by US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Adewale Adeyemo. It was published on September 9 on the website of the US Department.

As follows from the words of the official, this regime will involve liability for those companies that will hide the origin or price of purchased oil.

“Those who evade the price ceiling regime by falsifying documents or otherwise concealing the true origin or price of oil will face consequences under the domestic laws of those jurisdictions that implement the price ceiling regime,” Adeyemo promised./ i

It is also noted that Western sanctions and export controls aimed at the military-industrial complex have deprived Russia of access to critical equipment and imported goods.

At the same time, the American deputy minister stated that there is one part of the Russian economy that is doing even better than at the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine - the oil industry.

“This summer, Russia received energy export prices 60% higher than last year, which more than compensated for the decline in export volumes. This situation is unacceptable for us and our allies,” Adeyemo complained.

Recall that the decision to introduce a ceiling on prices for oil and gas from Russia was made by the heads of the ministries of finance of the G7 countries on September 2. It is expected to be installed by December 5th.

However, a similar decision on gas, which Washington is seeking from its allies, has not yet been made.

As reported by bbabo.net, European Union energy ministers failed to reach an agreement on a price ceiling for Russian pipeline gas at their September 9 meeting.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that if this happens, our country will generally refuse gas supplies to those states that support such restrictions.
