Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a sensational law on public power banning the heads of regions from being called presidents. This is reported by RBC.

At the stage of discussion, the document caused a lot of debate; it was objected to in Tatarstan, the only region of the Russian Federation where the presidential office remained. The law also gives governors the right to be elected more than twice in a row.

“The name of the position of the highest official of a constituent entity of the Russian Federation is“ head ”with a further indication of the name of the constituent entity of the Russian Federation. Such a name cannot contain words and phrases that make up the name of the position of the head of state - the President of the Russian Federation, ”- says paragraphs 4 and 6 of Article 20 of the new law.
