Vucic on the hypocrisy of the West: Defending the integrity of Ukraine, he forgot about the integrity of Serbia

Serbia (bbabo.net), - The West, referring to the UN Charter, supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine, while completely forgetting about the territorial integrity of Serbia, which he himself violated. This was announced today, September 16, by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic at a joint press conference in Belgrade with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

“I pointed out to Prime Minister Orban the level of hypocrisy and the problems that we face in connection with the narrative of territorial integrity. How easy it is for [the West] to protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine, which is in line with the UN Charter, but how easy it is for them to forget that there is a UN Charter in the case of Serbia, how easy it is to forget that there is a valid UN Security Council Resolution 1244, which speaks of the territorial integrity of Serbia Vucic said. “I spoke about the problems of Serbia, told why the popularity of the EU in Serbia is declining,” Vučić said.

“Serbia is on the European path, wants to stay on the European path, but Serbia has its own national and state interests,” he added.

Recall: earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz sent a joint letter to the President of Serbia, urging him to make “difficult decisions” on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija. Macron and Scholz notified Vučić that advisers to German Chancellor Jens Plötner and French President Emmanuel Bonn were sent to assist EU Special Representative for the Western Balkans Miroslav Lajcak.

On September 9, EU negotiators arrived in Serbia to "explore options for moving forward in the dialogue" between Belgrade and Pristina. They held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the unrecognized Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in Pristina, after which they arrived on a visit to Belgrade.

UN Security Council Resolution 1244, adopted on June 10, 1999, confirms that the autonomous province of Kosovo and Metohija is part of Serbia. The Kosovo authorities unilaterally declared the province's independence in February 2008. More than 60 countries, including Russia, India and China, as well as five EU member states oppose the recognition of Kosovo.
