Lukashenka named Belarus' priorities in the framework of cooperation with the SCO countries

Belarus (bbabo.net), - Belarus's priorities in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization remain unchanged. This was announced today, on September 16, at the SCO summit in Samarkand by Alexander Lukashenko.

“The priorities of Belarus in the SCO are unchanged - this is effective cooperation with partners in strengthening regional security, intensive development of economic cooperation, deepening humanitarian ties,” he said.

According to him, on the agenda today is the coordination of joint actions and the development of a collective response to new challenges and threats in the economy.

“We stand for the development of interconnectedness, the creation of combined green corridors and the further implementation of an integrated traffic flow management system using digital technologies,” the Belarusian leader said and expressed his conviction that the time has come for the already launched logistics and infrastructure projects linking Europe with Asia, including the implementation of the New Eurasian Land Bridge initiative.

In addition, he noted that Belarus "sees a huge potential for the SCO in terms of stimulating trade and economic cooperation", where the most popular areas are industrial and technological cooperation, digital transformation and artificial intelligence, green economy and climate adaptation and the elimination of unreasonable trade barriers. In his opinion, "this will ensure the conjugation of national strategies and long-term plans for stable and accelerated development"

"Belarus is interested in expanding cooperation in the field of peaceful atom, as well as in the application of various cost-effective and environmentally friendly technologies," Lukashenka added.

The President of Belarus also stressed that today it is necessary to take a fresh look at the state of cooperation in the banking and financial sectors.

“Illegal sanctions, disconnection from international payments, and other illegitimate restrictions lead to the need to bring payment systems closer together, increase the share of national currencies in trade, and create our own financial mechanisms within the SCO. This approach will provide not only freedom of choice, but also freedom of action,” he stressed.

The Belarusian leader also recalled that his country is “traditionally strong in terms of food security”, and the agrarians of the republic have achieved world-class results in a number of areas of the agro-industrial complex.

“We are ready to actively engage in joint work to ensure the food security of our family, the SCO family, including cooperation in the areas of smart agriculture, agro-innovation, precision farming technologies and resource-saving technologies,” Lukashenka said.

In addition, the President of Belarus stressed that Minsk is in favor of expanding international cooperation and developing cooperation between the SCO and other regional structures, such as the CSTO, the CIS, and the EAEU. In his opinion, in the end, this “can create a foundation for further strengthening the Eurasian partnership based on the concept of ‘integrations’.” He also noted that he attaches great importance to the humanitarian dimension of the SCO, including the development of sports.

“The President of Russia outlined this topic very clearly. Sport is designed to unite countries and peoples. Now, alas, it is also being massively politicized by the West,” he noted and suggested “in order to increase the authority of member states and the competitiveness of athletes in the world arenas” to consider the possibility of holding within the SCO “complex international competitions in summer Olympic sports in 2024 and for winter - in 2026.

The President of Belarus could not pass by the topic of security. He stated that Belarus is ready to constructively cooperate on countering terrorism, separatism, extremism, drug trafficking, weapons, nuclear and radioactive materials, organized crime and illegal migration.

“I absolutely support the opinion expressed here by Chinese President Xi Jinping on countering the interference of certain countries in the internal affairs of states and countering color revolutions,” Lukashenka stressed and supported the creation of the Universal Center for Threats and Challenges to SCO Security on the basis of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure in Tashkent .

Summing up, Alexander Lukashenko stressed that the interaction and rapprochement of Belarus with the SCO is inextricably linked with the formation of a security and cooperation architecture for the entire Eurasian continent.

“Thanks to its political influence, economic strength and internal strength, our organization is quite ripe to more actively and persistently contribute to building international policy on the principles of indivisible security and the diversity of paths of progressive development,” said the President of Belarus.
