Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan met with US Secretary of State

Caucasus (bbabo.net), - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, at a trilateral meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, stated the need to introduce international mechanisms to avoid further escalations between the Armenian and Azerbaijani armed forces.2

“At the meeting, Ararat Mirzoyan stressed that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces must be withdrawn from the sovereign territory of Armenia, the use of force or the threat of its use is unacceptable, and international mechanisms must be introduced in order to prevent further escalations,” the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reports.

The head of the Foreign Ministry also stated the importance of a speedy solution of humanitarian problems, including the return of all Armenian prisoners of war from Azerbaijan.

“Mirzoyan confirmed the readiness of the Armenian side to be involved in the negotiation process,” the press service notes.

The meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan and the US Secretary of State took place on the initiative of the American side on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
