Russian Foreign Ministry: Storm of criticism of the SCO summit speaks of the growing role of the organization

Asia (bbabo.net), - The reaction of Western countries to the latest summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Samarkand testifies to the growing role of the association. This was stated today, September 20, at a briefing by the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for SCO Affairs, Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Khakimov.

“Tracking the reaction abroad, especially in the West or in Western countries, to the last summit, we note a flurry of some indiscriminate criticism, and, frankly, it is indiscriminate and fake. Whatever labels they try to hang, it means that the SCO is of interest, it means that the SCO is trying to analyze and understand that everything is going quite well in the SCO,” he said.

According to Khakimov, the West seeks to undermine interest in the SCO by unconstructive criticism.

The diplomat stressed that the SCO member states have an impressive combined potential both in terms of the share of world GDP and in terms of population.

“And most importantly: the attractiveness of the SCO lies in one thing, it seems to me - this is, first of all, the philosophy that the SCO member states offer, this is trust, this is the readiness to interact constructively, the readiness to listen to each other and create. These are the main advantages of the SCO,” Khakimov said, quoted by TASS.
