Ministry of Defense of Latvia: Which of the local Russians will go to fight, let him not return

Latvia (bbabo.net), - Latvian Defense Minister Artis Pabriks said that if any of the citizens of the Russian Federation living in this Baltic republic goes to fight against Ukraine, then he should stay in the Russian Federation, writes Lsm.lv.

Speaking on the air of the “Latvian Radio-4” program “Details”, Pabriks said that if Russian citizens living in Latvia until that time “will participate in aggression against Ukraine”, then “let them live in the Russian Federation”.

“We are now approaching every citizen of the Russian Federation very carefully. As we said, there will be zero tolerance for any citizen or non-citizen. To any person who will be on the side of the aggression of the Russian Federation against other states and peoples. That is, if they are citizens of the Russian Federation, then, of course, then they need to return to Russia. If we are not talking about citizens of the Russian Federation, we will find other methods. Because we will defend our state and our interests here by any means,” Pabriks said.

Earlier, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics wrote on a social network that “for security reasons” Riga will not issue visas to Russian citizens who evade mobilization. “We have a policy of non-issuance of visas for citizens of the Russian Federation,” said Artis Pabriks in turn. Earlier in an official statement, he stressed that "the level of military threat in Latvia remains low," and the republic's armed forces are in a state of "high combat readiness."

We add that the Latvian State Security Service (SSS) calls on Russian citizens who are in Latvia to immediately report if they receive a summons for conscription into the Russian army, LETA reports.

The State Security Service recalls that according to the norms of the Criminal Law, citizens of Latvia, including persons with dual citizenship, non-citizens and foreigners who have a permanent residence permit in Latvia, “are criminally liable for serving in the Russian armed forces and participating in the war against Ukraine and its inhabitants ".
