Armenian passport has become much more popular

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - Over the year, the number of those wishing to obtain Armenian passports of all types increased by 157,269. The press service of the police of the Transcaucasian Republic reported this in response to a written request from Sputnik Armenia.

As this news agency writes today, October 4, the Armenian department of internal affairs noted that the number of citizens who applied for passport services in 2022 has doubled, although the resources of the country's passport and visa department have not changed.

According to police data, between January and September 2021, the total number of issued old-style passports was 297,975, ID cards - 71,104, biometric passports - 10,382.

“During the same period of the current year, the number of issued old-style passports amounted to 376,394, identification cards - 145,099, biometric passports - 15,237," the report says.

Earlier, the Armenian Police reported that since the beginning of summer, the workload of the passport and visa department has increased by 60%, which explains the unprecedented queues at passport offices throughout the republic, especially in its capital.

More than 2,000 Russian citizens who moved to Armenia this year received a residence permit (permit). According to official statistics, in the first half of 2022, 372,086 Russian citizens entered Armenia, of which 331,306 left the country, and 40,780 stayed in the republic for a longer period.

As reported by bbabo.net, the conflict in Ukraine and sanctions against Russia have caused a significant migration of Russian citizens to Armenia since March, with the number of visitors to the republic growing by 515% year-on-year in the first six months of 2022. A significant part of migrants are highly qualified specialists, especially in the field of information technology. We are talking about tens of thousands of relocators from Russia.
