Election results summed up in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In Bosnia and Herzegovina summed up the results of the elections that took place in the country last Sunday. This election was the 14th since the end of the civil war and the signing of the Dayton Accords in 1995.

The main surprise of the elections was the defeat of the son of the first president of independent Bosnia and Herzegovina, Aliya Izetbegovic. The head of the Party of Democratic Actions, Bakir Izetbegovic, did not have enough votes to get into the presidium of the country. Instead, the Muslim Boshnyaks will be represented on the presidium by Denis Bechirovich, who is a candidate from 11 parties.

Bosnian Croats, as before, will be represented by Zeljko Komsic.

And from the Serbian community, a woman was elected to the presidium for the first time, Zeljka Cvijanovic, who had previously been the president of the Republika Srpska and an ally of the nationalist leader of the Bosnian Serbs, Milorad Dodik, who represented the Serbs on the presidium earlier.

Dodik himself did not succeed in the elections. The visit to Moscow for talks with Putin on energy supplies did not help him either. A significant role in the defeat of Milorad Dodik was played by the position of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, who chose to distance himself from the radical leader of the Bosnian Serbs so as not to make problems for himself in relations with European countries.
