Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan explained why the republic canceled the CSTO exercises

Asia (bbabo.net), - The CSTO exercises, which were planned to be held on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, were canceled due to the recent conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic Edil Baisalov, reports today, October 11, RIA Novosti.

“Public opinion in Kyrgyzstan would not welcome the participation of the army in the upcoming CSTO exercises “Indestructible Brotherhood - 2022” due to the recent conflict with Tajikistan. Because of this, the exercise had to be canceled,” the deputy head of the Kyrgyz government told the agency.

According to him, Kyrgyzstan's membership in the CSTO is inviolable, there are no problems with this organization with a mandate, with a mission, with a charter for the republic.

“But, of course, in the light of recent events, the blood has not cooled down. The situation has developed in such a way that public opinion in Kyrgyzstan will not welcome the same elements of the armed units of our Tajik neighbors to be present at these exercises,” Baisalov added.

As previously reported, due to the fact that the Ministry of Defense of Kyrgyzstan canceled the military exercises of the CSTO "Indestructible Brotherhood-2022" on its territory, the Organization's contingent went to Tajikistan. The department did not provide a reason for the cancellation.

At the same time, Baisalov noted the importance of Russia's role in Central Asia and in Kyrgyz-Tajik relations as a strategic partner of both states.

“It is clear that Moscow now has a lot of other pressing issues. Nevertheless, it is a great power to keep order, maintain peace and tranquility in all areas of its global responsibility at the same time,” the Deputy Prime Minister concluded.
