EU permanent representatives agreed on non-recognition of passports of residents of the new territories of Russia

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - On October 12, the Permanent Representatives of the EU countries agreed on a position on the non-recognition of Russian passports issued in territories that they consider "occupied from Ukraine and Georgia."

After the decision is made, passports issued to residents of the territories annexed to Russia, as well as Abkhazia and South Ossetia, will not be valid for issuing Schengen visas.

“The permanent representatives agreed on their position on the non-recognition of Russian passports in the occupied territories of Ukraine and Georgia. They will not be valid when obtaining visas or entering the Schengen area,” reads the statement of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The issue is yet to be discussed with the European Parliament.

Referendums on the entry of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into the Russian Federation were held on September 23-27. The vast majority of local residents voted for joining the Russian Federation. On September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed agreements with the heads of these republics and regions on the admission of regions into Russia.
