US sees China as biggest geopolitical challenge

Asia (bbabo.net) - Washington sees Beijing as its biggest geopolitical challenge. This was stated by Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security Jake Sullivan.

“We recognize that, geopolitically, China poses the most significant geopolitical challenge for America,” he said at a briefing, commenting on the publication of a new version of the US National Security Strategy.

At the same time, Sullivan added that the States "do not want a rigid division of the world into blocks, open confrontation or a new cold war."

“But the strategy also makes clear that we avoid looking at the world solely through the prism of strategic rivalry. So we will not try to divide the world into rigid blocs, we do not want the rivalry to escalate into a confrontation or a new cold war,” he said.

According to the document presented by the White House, "Russia poses a direct threat to a free and open international system, irresponsibly undermining the basic laws of today's world order."

“PRC and Russia are increasingly connected to each other, but the challenges they pose differ in important ways. We will prioritize maintaining a strong competitive advantage over China while limiting the still fundamentally dangerous Russia.
