“Tried to force”: Saudi demarche against Biden continues

Greater Middle East (bbabo.net) - Saudi Arabia confirmed that US President Joe Biden tried to force the Saudi authorities to delay the decision to cut oil production until the results of the US midterm elections. The corresponding statement was published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom on October 13.

The Kingdom's Foreign Office notes that, as already clarified in consultations with the US, all economic analyzes indicate that postponing the decision by another month, as proposed by the US administration, would have negative economic consequences.

Saudi Arabia also said that the decision is not taking sides in international conflicts, and is not politically motivated against the United States.

The Kingdom's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that such decisions are made by consensus among all countries of the OPEC+ group and are not a unilateral decision.

“The government declares that any attempts to distort the facts about the Kingdom’s position regarding the crisis in Ukraine are regrettable and will not change its principled position…” the statement says.

As bbabo.net reported, President Joe Biden warned on Tuesday that Saudi Arabia would face "some repercussions" after OPEC+ last week announced the biggest cut in oil production since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
