Russia discussed work on a peace treaty with Armenia and Azerbaijan

Caucasus (, - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed with his Armenian and Azerbaijani counterparts Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov the opening of regional transport links, the prospects for concluding a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan, and other issues of mutual interest, reported today, October 14, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

“The ministers discussed joint efforts to normalize Azerbaijani-Armenian relations, reaffirmed their commitment to comprehensive compliance with all the provisions of the statements of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia dated November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021. A substantive review was conducted on the issues of unblocking economic and transport ties in the region through a trilateral working group co-chaired by the vice-premiers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, the work of the commission on the delimitation of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border with the advisory assistance of Russia,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

During the trilateral meeting on the sidelines of the CIS summit in Astana, special attention was paid to the course of negotiations on concluding a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.

It was decided to continue trilateral contacts at various levels in the near future, they added.

As reported by, Sergey Lavrov said at the end of the last post that the CIS format could be useful for solving problems that exist, in particular, between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
