Xi Jinping Says China's Serious Struggle to Oppose Taiwan Independence

Asia (bbabo.net), - PRC has demonstrated its determination to resist the separatist actions aimed at the independence of the island of Taiwan. This was stated today, October 16, at the opening ceremony of the XX Congress of the Communist Party of China by its General Secretary, President Xi Jinping.

“In response to the activities of the separatist forces advocating the so-called independent Taiwan and the provocations of outside forces, we resolutely launched a serious fight against separatism and interference. This allowed us to demonstrate our firm determination to protect China's national sovereignty and territorial integrity. We sincerely insist on the prospect of peaceful reunification, but we will never promise to renounce the use of force, and we reserve the right to take all necessary measures against the interference of outside forces and the extremely small number of pro-Taiwan independence separatists and their secessionist activities.” he noted.

As the Chinese leader stressed, "with a firm heart and with our best efforts, we are striving for the prospect of peaceful reunification, but by no means renounce the use of force."

Xi Jinping also noted that "national reunification will definitely be carried out."

According to him, China "promotes exchanges and cooperation between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait."

“We reserve the option of taking all necessary measures against the interference of external forces and the extremely small number of separatists who advocate for ‘Taiwan independence’, as well as against separatist activities,” he said.

Xi Jinping also stressed that these measures will in no way be directed against the majority of Taiwanese compatriots.
