Xi Jinping: Corruption is the biggest cancer threatening the Chinese Communist Party

Asia (bbabo.net), - Chinese President Xi Jinping called corruption within the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) a major cancer that threatens the viability of the political organization.

"Corruption is the biggest cancer that endangers the viability and combat effectiveness of the party," Xi Jinping said today, October 16, at the opening ceremony of the 20th CCP Congress.

He also noted that the fight against bribery is the most thorough way to "self-reform the party."

“As long as the breeding ground and conditions for corruption still exist, the fight against it cannot stop even for a moment,” the Chinese leader added, TASS quoted TASS as saying.

The Chinese authorities stepped up the fight against corruption after the "fifth generation" of leaders, led by Xi Jinping, came to power in 2012. In recent years, as a result of a large-scale anti-corruption campaign, many officials and members of the CCP have lost their posts and been sentenced to prison terms, including life. A number of corrupt officials were sentenced to death.
