Asia (bbabo.net), - The transfer of militants from the Middle East to Afghanistan strengthens the position of terrorist organizations and poses a threat to the Central Asian states. This was announced during a high-level conference on international and regional cooperation in the fight against terrorism, which is taking place in Dushanbe, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon said today, October 18, Sputnik Tajikistan news agency.
This, he said, threatens the entire region.
“Under the current conditions, the transfer of terrorist fighters from the Middle East to other regions and, in connection with this, the strengthening of the positions of international terrorist organizations in Afghanistan pose a serious threat to the countries of Central Asia,” Rahmon said.
He added that despite the significant work of international and regional organizations, countries do not have a unified terminological and legal approach in defining this dangerous phenomenon.
Rahmon stressed that until all interested parties accept a detailed interpretation of terrorism and extremism, it will be impossible to coordinate the efforts of countries in the fight against these anti-human phenomena.
“Unified approaches are needed in the fight against these threats,” Rahmon continued.
Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, head of the CSTO Joint Staff, reported earlier that international terrorist groups have become more active on the territory of Afghanistan.
Intelligence recorded the transfer of almost 400 militants of the Islamic State (the organization is banned in the Russian Federation) to the northern Afghan provinces in order to carry out terrorist attacks.
