Tajikistan and CSTO will strengthen the protection of the Tajik-Afghan border

Asia (bbabo.net), - Preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Collective Security Council, as well as the challenges and threats present, were discussed in Dushanbe by Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Mukhriddin and CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas. This was announced today, October 19, by the Asia Plus news agency with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.

“During the meeting, the parties discussed preparations for the next meetings of the Collective Security Council, the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the CSTO and exchanged views on challenges and threats to the collective security regions,” the report says.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the high-level conference "International and regional cooperation in the field of border security and border control to combat terrorism and prevent the movement of terrorists", which is taking place in the Tajik capital. The conference is organized by the UN Counter-Terrorism Office, the Government of Tajikistan, the Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, the OSCE and the EU.

Earlier, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met with the CSTO Secretary General. During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of cooperation between Tajikistan within the framework of the CSTO, the current tasks of the organization, current topics of the regional and international agenda.
