Ukraine (bbabo.net), - The authorities of the Kherson region plan to organize the movement of about 50-60 thousand residents to the left bank of the Dnieper and to other Russian regions.
Such a plan was voiced by the acting head of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo, speaking on the air of Soloviev Live. He estimates that the entire evacuation process will take about six days.
At the same time, the authorities hope that the evacuation will go smoothly, since "there is no tension in the city yet."
In his telegram channel on October 19, Vladimir Saldo said that there is an immediate danger of flooding the territories due to the possible destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric dam and the discharge of water from a cascade of power plants upstream of the Dnieper.
“In such a situation, I made a difficult but correct decision to announce the organized movement of the civilian population of the Berislav, Belozersky, Snigiryovsky and Aleksandrovsky municipalities to the left bank of the Dnieper,” the statement says.
It is also noted that in Kherson they increased the discharge of water through the canal system in order to somehow protect the city in case of flooding when the locks of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station were blown up.
Nevertheless, according to calculations, it turns out that even taking into account these measures, when the locks of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station explode, the water can still rise by a meter. In this case, residential buildings on the islands and in the Korabel microdistrict will be under the threat of flooding.
“Under these conditions, our key task is to save human lives and allow the troops of the Russian Federation to effectively perform their functions to protect the Kherson region. We will take the civilian population to the left bank in an organized, stage-by-stage manner,” Saldo promised.
Earlier it was reported that the authorities of the Kherson region sent SMS messages to residents of Kherson and the region with a call to urgently evacuate due to the threat of shelling of residential areas.
