The scapegoat: the head of the Lithuanian Railways is hastily pushed out of his post

Belarus (bbabo.net), - Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Shimonyte said that the date of the resignation of the head of the state railway company Mantas Bartushka should be announced as soon as possible. Thus, Bartushka was made a "scapegoat", writes "Sputnik Lithuania".

“The Board of the Lithuanian Railways informed that there will be an agreement on a specific date when the head will leave his post. It would be good if these agreements were clear - and that they were announced as soon as possible, ”Simonyte said.

A scandal erupted in Lithuania last week over the transportation of Belaruskali products. It turned out that the transit of goods of the Belarusian company through Lithuania continues - despite the fact that the US sanctions, which were adopted in early August, came into force. Lithuanian Railways reported that Belaruskali had previously made an advance payment and termination of the contract will now lead to serious costs for the Lithuanian side.

Earlier, Šimonyte rejected applications for the resignation of Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielus Landsbergis and Transport Minister Marius Skuodis. Only Bartushka will have to leave. However, this angered the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nauseda. Nauseda on Wednesday sharply criticized Ingrida Šimonyte’s decision to continue the work of the government without changing its composition. The head of state considers this to be collective irresponsibility, writes TASS.

“As for the prime minister’s yesterday’s decision, I don’t think it’s a victory. Rather, it is a defeat. I think it cannot be that the entire government took the blame for the mistakes of the two ministers and resigned - I do not consider such a solution appropriate. In the same way, there can be no collective irresponsibility when one covers the other and a kind of “blind defense” group is formed. This cannot be the case when it comes to government, ”says Nauseda.

According to the President of Lithuania, he still had unanswered questions. “Questions about the political responsibility of some ministers remain unanswered. If they think that they will find a “switchman” in a hurry, but everyone's uniforms will remain clean, I don’t think this is so, ”said Nauseda.

The head of state also stressed that when the current ruling parties (the Fatherland Union - Lithuanian Christian Democrats party) were in opposition, they made high demands on the ministers of the previous government. “These standards are now very low. The question is why? Is it because these standards are applied to themselves and not to others? " - he remarked.

“Some kind of cheap soap opera has unfolded in Lithuanian politics because of the sanctions against Belarus. Foreign Minister Gabrielus Landsbergis freaked out and said that he was quitting because Lithuania was unable to impose sanctions against Belaruskali on time, at the same time as the United States. Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte said that she would not sign the application and sent him to work. President Gitanas Nauseda replied to her that no - he should have been fired, because the Lithuanian policy of values was discredited. The struggle for power has never looked so miserable. Everyone has already understood that they want to sit on Nausedu and replace him in the presidential chair with the grandson of Landsbergis dedule. But in terms of style, their confrontation is most reminiscent of intrigues between actresses in a provincial troupe, ”political scientist Alexander Nosovich notes.
