Asia (bbabo.net), - Lithuanian Seimas Speaker Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen said on the air of the radio station Ziniu radijas that it is still difficult to measure the expansion of cooperation between Vilnius and Taiwan in terms of financial benefits. But this, according to Cmilyte-Nielsen, brought political dividends to Lithuania, writes RuBaltic.ru.
“The expansion of our ties with Taiwan has not yet brought tangible economic benefits. But this does not mean that we have not derived diplomatic, political benefits, which are difficult to measure in dollars or euros, ”the politician emphasized.
According to the speaker of the Lithuanian parliament, "these foreign policy nuances have served Lithuania well." She is convinced that cooperation with Taiwan “is of great importance for regional security and the future of Lithuania.
At the same time, she expressed the opinion that a certain time must pass in order to be able to unequivocally speak about the results of the steps taken by Vilnius.
“The question of the success of our undertakings and whether this will become an example for other EU countries remains open,” Cmilyte-Nielsen said.
Recall that recently the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, proudly announced that his country is one of the few in the world that can call itself “free from China”.
