The Prime Minister of Belarus announced the progress in the development of the EAEU

Belarus (bbabo.net), - The Eurasian Economic Union has made significant progress in creating a level playing field. This was announced today, October 21, by the Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko.

“Barriers and obstacles in the EAEU market is a traditional topic. I will express the position of the Belarusian side. Yes, there are still obstacles. But a lot of work has been done. We are clearing away the blockages that were largely formed not because countries introduce some new barriers, but because national legislation did not coincide with the legislation of the union. This is a long way, it was necessary to go through complex procedures,” he said during a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in an expanded format, which is taking place in Yerevan.

He stressed that Minsk, for its part, will take all necessary measuresolve these issues.

“We have already taken most of the necessary decisions to eliminate those points in the national legislation that were qualified as barriers. We hope that the completion of work on the removal of barriers and restrictions on trade will not take long,” the Belarusian Prime Minister said.

At the same time, he stressed that today it is necessary to make fundamental decisions on the implementation of the basic goals of the Treaty on the EAEU.

“The turbulence provoked by certain forces should be considered by us only as a window of new opportunities. Sooner or later, the recession in the global economy will end. It depends on us how our countries will emerge from this phase. By this time, our enterprises and businesses should fully occupy the vacant commodity and technological niches,” Golovchenko said.

In his opinion, it is also necessary to make fundamental decisions on the implementation of the basic goals of the Treaty on the EAEU.

“These are equal economic conditions, the formation of common energy markets, the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor. This is especially important in the current geopolitical situation. Yes, there are still disagreements on complex issues, in particular, on the formation of common energy markets. But we are motivated to complete this work on the terms that would suit all members of the union,” the head of the Belarusian government stressed.

In addition, at a meeting of the heads of government of the EAEU countries with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturian, Goloovchenko said that today the EAEU countries "have made significant progress in creating equal economic conditions."

“I think we have come a long way. Yesterday we exchanged views on the remaining issues that hinder the free movement of goods, capital, labor and services. A lot has already been done, and the remaining issues will certainly be resolved. In the near future, we will forget about barriers and exemptions in mutual trade,” he said.

He also noted that the most important issue is the formation of common energy markets on fair terms.

“We also devoted a lot of time to this topic yesterday. Despite the fact that there are still issues that have not been resolved, I want to state that a long way has also been traveled and the parties have significantly brought their positions closer compared to the initial phase of negotiations on this issue ... We have done a lot in customs and tariff regulation, in eliminating exemptions. We need to go deeper, dive further into the ideological essence of our cooperation - this is the development of the competencies of states and their synergy in the creation of new modern goods and technologies. We must move away from the concept of "screwdriver" assemblies of someone else's products and develop our own competencies, of which there are many. In this context, it is very important that we discussed the mechanisms for financing such projects yesterday. I think that the closeness of positions on this issue speaks for itself. Everyone is set to work in this direction, ”said the head of the government of Belarus.

Recall that the EAEU includes five states - Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. The countries participating in the association have been working to remove all restrictions in mutual trade over the past years.
