Residents of the border regions of Kyrgyzstan with Tajikistan are leaving their homes en masse

Asia (bbabo.net), - The Kyrgyz parliament said that residents of the Batken region, bordering Tajikistan, are leaving their homes en masse and called on the government to intensify work to keep them. This was announced today, October 27, by IA 24.kg.

According to MP Emil Toktoshev, internal migration from Batken to Bishkek and Chui region has increased.

“Many people are moving to the Chui region. We must help them. We also need to work in border villages. The Cabinet must keep the population there. The statesman Iskhak Razzakov said that it is not the wire that protects the border, but the people,” he said.

The parliamentarian also demanded a report from the Cabinet of Ministers on the distribution of money allocated to the Batken region for reconstruction after the recent Kyrgyz-Tajik armed conflict.

“On the ground they didn’t see the money,” he added.
