Moldova has become a transit hub of Ukraine: the Kyiv-Chisinau train has been launched

Ukraine (, - From November 5, a new international passenger train Chisinau-Kyiv will start running. The direct route will connect the capitals of Moldova and Ukraine, said today, October 28, the head of the passenger service of the State Enterprise "Railway of Moldova" Konstantin Pavlov.

According to him, the initiative to launch this train came from colleagues from Ukraine. It is primarily designed for residents of Ukraine who use the neighboring country as a transit hub for traveling abroad.

“Given the lack of air service in Ukraine and the presence of an operating airport in Moldova, we can say with confidence that the train will be in demand by the inhabitants of Ukraine,” Pavlov is sure.

The official specified that the route would pass through the north of Moldova, and in Ungheni there would be a connection with the Iasi-Chisinau train. This will be very convenient for passengers who need to get to Iasi Airport in Romania. In addition, passengers will have the opportunity to connect with the Chisinau-Bucharest train.

The Ukrainian railway carrier Ukrzaliznytsia has started pre-sale of tickets for the new Kyiv-Chisinau flight, the interval is every other day.

Recall that in August, work was also completed to restore the railway from Berezino to Basarabeaska between the southern part of the Odessa region and Moldova. Through this section, which is 23 kilometers (of which only 1.2 kilometers through the territory of the Republic of Moldova), Ukraine will export goods to the Republic of Moldova and the EU countries.

The resumption of railway traffic will allow Moldovan Basarabeasca to become an international logistics center that will connect Ukrainian (Southern, Odessa, Chernomorsk, Belgorod-Dnestrovsky, Izmail, Reni) and Romanian (Galati, Braile, Constanta) ports, as well as Moldovan Giurgiulesti.
