Kidnappings and murders of doctors on the rise in northern Afghanistan

Asia (bbabo.net), - In the northern Afghan province of Balkh, cases of kidnapping and murder of doctors have become more frequent. This was announced today, October 28, by TOLOnews.

Residents of the province are asking the Afghan security forces to arrest and punish those responsible.

“We ask the authorities and military departments to pay serious attention to ensuring that our doctors are comfortable working,” said doctor Fazel Rahim Hushmand.

“All of our specialists are worried about their lives, as well as the lives of their families,” said doctor Syed Adilshah.

“We are worried that something might happen to us and our family when we leave the house in the morning,” Dr. Ahmad Siyar said.

Balkh Police Department officials have vowed that those responsible for the recent incidents will be arrested and punished.

“We hope to find the perpetrators who killed Dr. Asadullah Sharik and bring them to justice,” said Mohammad Asif Waziri, a spokesman for the Balkh Police Department.

Asadullah Sharik was one of the famous doctors of Mazar-i-Sharif, but recently, when he was returning home, he was shot dead by unknown people.
