Ukraine (bbabo.net), - The Polish army is undergoing modernization, in which the first batch of Turkish Bayraktar-TB2 drones was handed over to the Poles at the Miroslavets airbase.
The contract for the purchase of four sets of 24 unmanned aerial vehicles with a total value of almost $ 270 million was signed in 2021. The first set of six drones and three mobile stations arrived in Poland this week.
Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said the recently acquired Bayaktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles were only a few days away from being put on alert. The minister also specified that in addition to the six drones, radars and flight control stations were delivered.
The minister described the acquisition of drones as an "important step" in the modernization of the Polish armed forces.
Base commander Marcin Szubinsky added that the devices will significantly increase the operational potential of the entire Polish army. He emphasized that TB2 "are designed to perform reconnaissance and strike missions using precision-guided munitions and can perform the task during the day, at night and under any atmospheric conditions."
