Former UEFA President Michel Platini has not been invited to the 2022 World Cup. The organizers did not send an invitation to the person who voted for Qatar when choosing the host country.

“I have not received any invitation except from many media outlets and I have no intention of going,” Platini said.

As championat.com clarifies, thanks to the Frenchman's four votes, the right to host the tournament went to the Arab state, and not the United States. The publication called such an act "a real disrespect for the legend" and "a very mean act before the start of the World Cup." Platini was implicated in a corruption scandal and was suspended from football for four years, in July he was acquitted by a Swiss court.
